# Mark Hendrickson > Solo founder building Neotoma, a sovereign memory and deterministic state layer for long-running AI agents. Based in Barcelona, Spain. Previously TechCrunch, Plancast (acquired by Active Network), KITE Solutions, Hiro/Stacks blockchain, Leather/Trust Machines. ## What I do I build sovereign infrastructure for AI agents: memory that agents own and control rather than cede to platforms. My current project, Neotoma, treats agent memory as state evolution rather than retrieval: every observation is versioned, every entity snapshot is reproducible, every decision can be replayed. Schema-bound, local-first, cross-platform via MCP, and entirely user-controlled. I work as a solo founder operating with AI agents as a team rather than as tools. Every workflow (email, finance, content, product) runs through a shared repo and source of truth. The agents follow the same playbook I do, which only works because the state layer is explicit and inspectable. ## Neotoma Neotoma is a deterministic state layer for long-running agents. Core problems it solves: - Agent memory drifts between sessions, overwrites without history, and cannot be traced or replayed - Neotoma versions every observation, produces reproducible entity snapshots, and supports full decision replay - Schema-first design with event-sourced memory - Local-first architecture, cross-platform via Model Context Protocol (MCP) - User-controlled: data sovereignty by default Website: https://neotoma.io MCP server: https://github.com/markmhendrickson/mcp-server-markmhendrickson ## Career timeline - Founder, Neotoma & Ateles (2025-present, Barcelona) - General Manager, Leather at Trust Machines (2022-2025, Barcelona) — Bitcoin wallet - Product Lead, Hiro Systems / Blockstack (2018-2022, Barcelona) — Stacks blockchain - Freelance Product Manager, Designer & Developer (2015-2018, Barcelona) — Digit, First Opinion, STYLEBEE - Head of Product & Co-Founder, KITE Solutions (2012-2015, NYC & Barcelona) - Product Lead, Lift (2012, San Francisco) - CEO & Co-Founder, Plancast (2009-2011, San Francisco) — acquired by Active Network - Project Manager, Designer & Writer, TechCrunch (2007-2009) — 500+ articles, led Crunchbase redesign - BA Government & Economics, Bowdoin College (2003-2007) — summa cum laude ## Writing topics Essays and technical posts on: AI agent architecture, sovereign memory infrastructure, MCP (Model Context Protocol), Bitcoin and crypto wallets, product development, build-in-public philosophy, startup narratives, digital sovereignty, and the relationship between technology and human character. ## Contact - Email: mark@hendricksonserrano.com - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/markmhendrickson - GitHub: https://github.com/markmhendrickson - X: https://x.com/markymark ## AI discovery files - Extended content inventory: https://markmhendrickson.com/llms-full.txt - Posts JSON API: https://markmhendrickson.com/api/posts.json - Timeline JSON API: https://markmhendrickson.com/api/timeline.json - All content JSON API: https://markmhendrickson.com/api/pages.json - MCP server repo: https://github.com/markmhendrickson/mcp-server-markmhendrickson - RSS feed: https://markmhendrickson.com/rss.xml - Raw post markdown: https://markmhendrickson.com/raw/post/{slug}.md
